TGIF! I hope you all had a fantastic week. It certainly was a chilly one – especially here in the Greater Pittsburgh area!
Today, I would like to highlight the lunge with a bit of a variation. Lunges are a good exercise for strengthening and building large muscle groups including the buttocks, thighs, and hamstrings. If you are like me, these areas are particularly troublesome and require some extra effort and attention. Spanx can only do so much!! 🙂
Typically, a lunge is performed solely using bodyweight. Difficulty may be increased by using dumbbells in each hand, or placing a barbell across your neck and shoulders.
A great variation to the standard lunge is to perform plyometric lunges (split lunge jumps). This technique is performed at a faster rate with increased intensity to blast fat. Below is a fantastic demonstration for your review. Incorporate these into your fitness rotation now and you will have that beachbody backside in no time.
– Wishing you continued success in your fitness journey!
