Life is hectic! We all juggle work, family, and social obligations. We carry smart phones that serve as immediate access into the world of social media where we tweet, post, like, connect, stream, text, comment, blog, etc. Convenience at our finger tips! However, living in a world of technological convenience and managing multiple priorities leaves little time for many to focus on health and fitness aspirations. After awhile, this can lead to an unhealthy lifestyle and poor health. Don’t settle into this type of reality. There are some changes you can incorporate right NOW to begin living a healthier lifestyle.
EAT BREAKFAST. You’ve heard it before and it is still true – breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The word itself indicates its intent, which is to break the fast that occurs overnight while sleeping. Eating breakfast ensures that you replenish your blood sugar and nutrient levels needed to provide energy for the day.
DRINK WATER. The recommendation is to drink eight 8 oz glasses each day. Drinking water helps you to stay hydrated and facilitates body cleansing and waste elimination from your body. It may help to stave off hunger as well. In many instances your body requires hydration and not the unhealthy snacks we tend to reach for in those circumstances.
EAT REGULAR MEALS. Eating healthy and regular meals helps to keep you energized throughout the day and ensures good nutrition. Those who skip meals are prone to out-of-control hunger, often resulting in unhealthy choices and overeating. Ultimately, this will lead to weight gain.
EAT HEALTHY SNACKS. Healthy snacks incorporate eating a lot of fruits and vegetables. Healthy snacks between meals can help curb hunger. This can be particularly helpful if you work in an environment where unhealthy options are readily accessible.
EXERCISE REGULARY. Having a regular exercise routine and being active is a key component of a healthy lifestyle. Ideally you should try to engage in an activity that will get your heart pumping for at least 20 minutes a day. So, find something that you enjoy and get moving.
MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF. This may be the hardest tip of all, but it is important to take some time out of your hectic schedule for YOU. Find a time and a place in your day where you can completely wind down and relax for at least 15 minutes. It will be just the mental break you need to feel recharged.
GET NEEDED SLEEP. Give your body the needed rest to recharge each night so it’s fresh and ready to face the next day ahead.
