Health and fitness is actually simpler than most would expect. It is all about having the right nutrition and workout plan. The hard part seems to be following the set plan. Of course, it will involve changes in your routine because not changing will give you the same result. You know the saying: if you want …View full post
Where did the years go?? It’s so true when they say that father time waits for no one. As we enter into our 30s, 40s, and 50s, we may still feel young, but we cannot deny that our bodies will inevitably begin to show signs of aging. Remember that first gray hair and when those …View full post
You have the best intentions! You joined a local gym and outlined which fitness classes you plan to attend. Or perhaps you created a home gym and planned out your workout routines for the week. You’ve gone to bed at a reasonable hour and settled into a nice deep sleep. And then it happens, the …View full post

The body’s metabolism is a different process for each individual person. No two people metabolize food at the same rate therefore no two people have the metabolism. Happy Monday! Today is the first day of prep week for my 21 Day fitness challenge group and I’m excited! The workout program I selected is the 21 Day Fix challenge pack! I’m looking forward to sharing my workout efforts with the other “challengers” and being inspired by them as well. It will be work, but it will be FUN as well.
This week will be spent looking for some new 21-Day Fix approved recipes that I will be able to try over the next few weeks. Check out my board on Pinterest. I’ve already started drinking my Shakeology each day – it’s amazing how good it tastes! And my workouts this week will be a combo of running, hot yoga, and a taste of the 21 Day Fix series before getting down to business next week.
When I started down the road to fitness so many years ago, I had no idea the amount of stumbling blocks I would encounter along the way that would try to derail me. You have to navigate the obstacles of temptations, commitments, work schedules, family priorities, etc . . . the list goes on! Life has a way of just happening! This can make it very difficult to maintain a healthy and fit lifestyle. But, the good news is that it is possible.
I started down the road of my fitness journey more than 15 years ago! At that time, I so out of shape, did not have the energy I needed to get through the day, and was not happy with how I looked in many of my clothes. And the thought of wearing a swimsuit – forget it. I needed to make a change! I had to do something before I went down that spiraling path of excess weight gain and the issues that accompany being overweight.
Over years I’ve heard many non-runners say that running is boring, exhausting, and sometimes painful. I don’t blame them, I use to feel that way as well. When I was younger, I could never understand why my father and brother enjoyed it so much. They would always go for runs or enter local races just for fun. Meanwhile, I tried to avoid it as much as possible, especially during gym class. Who knew that more than 20 years later, I would enjoy running along with millions of others. However, as with many fitness activities, it can be difficult to sustain motivation over time.
Weight loss is something that many have a hard time doing. The concept seems simple enough: exercise + proper nutrition = weight loss right? Well, it is that simple in a nutshell, but a lot of people get lost on the proper execution of it. There are a number of reasons for why this happens. Here are 5 of the most common reasons many find themselves derailed from achieving weight loss success and a long-term healthy and fit lifestyle.

But do we know if we are really fit? How do we tell? Here are a few things to consider.
Once you understand what whole foods are, you can then begin to recognize why they are so important to the overall health and wellbeing of your body and mind. Whole foods are intended to be eaten as is and accepted for what their values and benefits are. When you eat a whole food, you offer your body a host of bountiful nutrients and benefits.
