Our Christmas Party

When my husband and I moved into our house in Greater Pittsburgh, we had no idea that we would be embraced as much as we have been over this passed year. We moved into the neighborhood in October 2014, just as the holiday season was about to begin. We attended the neighborhood Christmas party last year and had so much fun that we decided we would be one of the hosts for this year’s festivities.

The planning began with trimming our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving! It’s 10 feet tall and decked out with 300 balls. It’s our mini-version of the tree in New York’s Rockefeller Center.

20151205_213214_resizedWe had a great party menu which included buffalo wings, assorted cookies, cheese and crackers, chips with salsa and 7-layer dip, red velvet cupcakes, planter’s punch, assorted beer, wine, and other alcohol. I also wanted to try my hand at making a jello shot tree, but it did not turn out quite the way I had planned. But they were red and green so it was still “Christmasy” like I wanted.

This years theme was the traditional “Ugly Christmas Sweater” and our neighbors did not disappoint. I have never seen so many unique, creative, and NSFW items put on display. Since some of my neighbors work in the public school system and local Pittsburgh companies, I can’t post the evidence here. Sorry! But here is a picture of me in my sweater dress. I was told that it wasn’t ugly though 🙂

Needless to say, our healthy diet and workout regimen fell to the wayside this weekend. But as I posted here, that is okay. I am happy that we took the time to enjoy ourselves in the company of some great people. And yes, it’s back to yoga and the gym today!
