My husband and I love to run! So with the miles that we put on our running gear it’s important that they are comfortable and well-fitting. It’s about that time to invest in a new pair so here is a quick tip to keep in mind:
Feet tend to swell throughout the course of the day! Therefore, buy sneakers at the end of the day when feet are the biggest. Also, make sure they are roomy enough so that you are able to wiggle your toes! You do not want to have to “break them in.” That is not healthy for your feet and could lead to problems down the road (pun intended).
If there is a good running store near you, that would be the ideal place to do your shopping. They have knowledgeable staff and some have treadmills on site so that your running stride can be evaluated to determine the best type of running shoe for you. They will also take into account whether you pronate, supinate, have a high/low arch, etc.
Lastly, keep in mind that the brand you currently wear may not be the best for your needs after all. I wore Nike for years, but made the switch to New Balance a couple of years ago and it’s been a world of difference for my feet.
